On Tuesday, we saw the USDA July WASDE report get released and it came in pretty much as expected. However, the markets didn’t really react at all to the report as outside market pressure hammered grain and oilseeds on the day. Also, more than 40% of U.S. farmland is owned by people older than 65 and 3% are owned by foreign investors, which means younger generations are facing a real estate barrier to enter the agriculture industry as farmland prices surge and rising interests rates lead to more expensive mortgages.
