First Ship of Ukrainian Grain Leaves Port Safely

Multiple reports this morning indicate the first ship of Ukrainian grain has left a Ukraine port; signaling the first shipments under the recently signed grain export deal to allow exports amid the Russia/Ukraine war. A DTN report shows that 26,000 tons of corn has left for Lebanon despite a Sunday attack on the port of Mykolaiv. That attack also led to the death of a major Ukrainian grain exporter and his wife.

The ship left the Port of Odessa and will pass through the checkpoint with Turkey before continuing onward to its final destination. The questions now remain how long will the deal hold up between Russia, Ukraine, Turkey and the United Nations as well as will these ships return to carry more. Many of these ships have been stuck in the ports since the war began earlier this year.
