July Beef Exports Top $1 Billion, Pork Exports Behind Last Year

American beef exports again topped the $1 billion mark in July and posted the fifth-largest volume ever. July beef exports totaled over 126,500 metric tons, three percent higher year-over-year. Export value topped the $1 billion mark for a sixth time this year, finishing at $1.006 billion in July. “Global demand for U.S. beef continues to be amazingly resilient, especially at the retail level,” says U.S. Meat Export Federation President and CEO Dan Halstrom. Export value per head of fed slaughter is on a record pace at more than $475. U.S. pork exports topped 208,000 metric tons in July, six percent lower than last year. July export value reached $625 million, five percent lower than 2021. “July pork exports were below last year, but the good news is the per-unit price of U.S. pork is trending higher in the international marketplace.” July lamb muscle cuts reached 161 metric tons, up from 49 last year.
