(NEW DELHI) – On Thursday, India’s Food Ministry announced it was halting exports of it’s largest rice category, non-basmati white rice. It’s a move that would cut shipments from the world’s largest exporter of the grain roughly in half. Government officials said the ban was due to retail rice prices rising some 3% in a month.
