BREAKING NEWS: Navigator CO2 Ends Pipeline Project

(OMAHA, NE)– On Friday, it was announced that Navigator CO2 has cancelled their plans to build the Heartland Greenway pipeline project that would span five Midwest states. The company says in a press release that “given the unpredictable nature of the regulatory and government processes involved, particularly in South Dakota and Iowa, the Company has decided to cancel its pipeline project.”

Matt Vining, CEO of Navigator CO2 said in the press release on Friday, “As good stewards of capital and responsible managers of people, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the Heartland Greenway project. We are disappointed that we will not be able to provide services to our customers and thank them for their continued support.”

The company had planned to build over 1,300 miles of carbon pipeline from Illinois, through Iowa and Minnesota, into parts of South Dakota and Nebraska. The company had dealt with pushback from landowners and regulatory hurdles in many states, particularly South Dakota and Iowa. The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission had unanimously rejected the company’s proposal at the end of September.
