Texas Reports More than $800,000 in Wildfire Donations

Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller announced Wednesday the state has received more than $800,000 in donations for wildfire relief. The donations are through the State of Texas Agriculture Relief, or STAR Fund.

Miller says, “The overwhelming response demonstrates the strength of our Texas spirit and our commitment to standing together in times of crisis.” To date, more than 1,600 individuals have donated to the fund that will provide financial assistance, helping farmers rebuild and recover from the unprecedented damage. The STAR Fund, administered by the Texas Department of Agriculture, provides financial assistance to agricultural producers who have suffered losses due to natural disasters, including wildfires, floods, hurricanes, and droughts.

The funds collected will be distributed directly to those in need to help cover expenses such as livestock feed, fencing repairs, and other essential recovery efforts. Those who wish to contribute to the STAR Fund can visit the Texas Department of Agriculture website for more information: go to https://www.texasagriculture.gov.
