USDA GAIN Reports Help Commodity Groups Target Overseas Opportunities

Commodity groups looking for opportunities overseas to move their products should look into the USDA’s GAIN Reports. GAIN stands for Global Ag Information Network. Daniel Whitley, administrator of the Foreign Agricultural Service, talks about the GAIN reports.

“Hopefully, you all are aware of what we call our GAIN reports,” Whitley says. “GAIN stands for Global Ag Information Network. That’s the latest market intelligence we have for any commodity in any country we are exporting products to.”

He says it’s a chance to get the information needed to target countries that are open to more U.S. commodity exports. “If you look at some of the latest reports of what we’ve got, we can double down, triple down, and work with our exporters, work with our industries to take advantage of any opportunities that may be available in some of those markets,” according to Whitley.
