Corn and Soybean Harvest Wrapping Up; Winter Wheat Ratings Poor

(FARGO, ND) — Corn and soybean harvest is nearing the finish line while winter wheat conditions are off to one of the worst starts in recent history.

According to the latest USDA Crop Progress Report, corn harvest is 81% complete nationwide while soybean harvest is 89% complete as of Sunday, October 27th. In terms of select state by state breakdowns; Iowa is 84% complete for corn, Illinois at 87%, Minnesota is 85% complete, Nebraska is 79% complete, North Dakota stands at 71% and South Dakota is 78% complete for corn.

For soybeans, Iowa is 96% complete while Illinois is 90% finished. Minnesota soybean harvest is 98% complete as of Sunday, Nebraska at 94%, North Dakota at 95% and South Dakota at 96% complete for soybeans as of Sunday.

Meantime, the season’s first winter wheat condition rating is one of the worst in recent history. Nationwide, the crop stands at just 38% good to excellent as of Sunday. That is down nine points from last season’s rating at this time of year. Winter wheat in poor to very poor condition stands at 23% this week. Nationwide, winter wheat planting progress was 80% complete as of Sunday.
