Planting Progress Moves Forward

(FARGO, ND) — The latest estimates from USDA say that corn, soybean and spring wheat planting progress is moving at or ahead of average as we near the end of April.

According to the latest USDA Crop Progress report, 24% of corn is planted nationwide as of Sunday, April 27th. That is two points ahead of the five-year average with Kansas at 39% completed, Iowa at 34%, Minnesota at 26%, South Dakota at 23% and North Dakota 7% completed as of Sunday. Illinois and Indiana were behind the average pace at 16% and 10% planted, respectively.

Soybeans nationwide are 18% planted as of Sunday, that is six points ahead of the five-year average. Iowa and Illinois are at 25% and 22% planted respectively for soybeans while South Dakota is at 6%, North Dakota at 2% and Minnesota at 13% planted. Spring wheat nationwide is 30% planted as of Sunday with South Dakota well ahead of average at 79% planted, ahead of the five-year average of 44%.
